Our Story
The Budget Group under today’s management began as Budget Brokerage, when in 1982, it was purchased as an existing insurance brokerage by G. Thomas Cestaro, an attorney on Long Island, New York. The business almost exclusively sold “Assigned Risk” New York State coverage, designed to insure drivers of higher risk due to accident and/or traffic tickets resulting in “points” on driver’s licenses.
Gradually over time, the business evolved to include more insurance markets which would serve all drivers, regardless of driving record. We also added a Commercial insurance component, both for commercial vehicles and businesses themselves.
The Budget Group grew over the years, ebbing and flowing, at one point operating four locations in New York. Presently, the locations have consolidated, and there are two physical locations: one in Bohemia, New York and one in Riverhead, New York.
In 1992, the business was transferred to Mr. Cestaro’s son, Joseph, who continues to own and operate it today.
The business is fortunate to have several key employees who have been an integral part of the business for many years. The Budget Group plans to offer additional services in the future including tax preparation and home refinancing.
